Emollient Focus Week of Action
The National Fire Chiefs Council is running an Emollient Focus Week of Action from 24–30 March as part of the ongoing Know the Fire Risk campaign. This focus week aims to raise awareness of the potential fire hazards associated with emollient creams and support efforts to reduce fire risk.
Understanding the Risk
Emollients are commonly prescribed by GPs, nurses, and other clinicians for long-term treatment of skin conditions. While widely used across communities, certain groups face a higher fire risk when using these products. Research by De Montfort University has identified the following high-risk groups:
