NSAB Strategic Annual Plan 2026-27

The Newcastle Safeguarding Adults Board (NSAB) have published their Strategic Annual Plan for 2026-27. The NSAB is required to publish a plan which sets out how we will meet our objectives and how our member agencies will contribute. We structure our plan around the six key principles of adult safeguarding.

We have also published a “plan-on-a-page”. This gives a summary of our main priority areas.

Overview of the NSAB’s Strategic Annual Plan 2026-27:

Empowerment

We will make sure feedback from adults is reported widely
We will ask if partner agencies can help collect feedback
We will continue to support research into older people’s experiences of safeguarding adults

Protection

We will update and improve training on neglect
We make clear what counts as “poor care” and what counts as “neglect” and which reporting pathways should be used
We will find out why discriminatory abuse reports are low and work with other partnerships to increase awareness of hate crime.

Proportionality

We will continue to review our Risk Threshold Tool.

Prevention

We will promote safeguarding adults messages with the public and professionals.
We will co-produce information about safeguarding adults with adults in our communities.
We will find out if there are any barriers to people accessing safeguarding adults support.

Partnership

We will carry on work to improve the quality of safeguarding adult referrals
We will use IT developments to support the MASH dealing with a high volume of referrals
We will improve the feedback given to referrers

Accountability

We will ensure learning from Safeguarding Adult Reviews is embedded in practice.
We will carry on doing multi-agency audits.
